Reminder - Parents Evening Booking System
A reminder that we now use an online appointment booking system for our parents' evenings. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and receive an email confirming your appointments. You will also be able to add a short message for the teacher. We are confident this will be an improvement to the previous system and welcome any feedback.

Q Place - Thursdays 3:30-4:30pm
A Q Place is... where you come together in a small group to discuss questions about God and the Bible. Everyone is welcome. The people who run a Q Place are equipped to facilitate discussions that are respectful, significant, and filled with discovery. Qplace has been running in D.CH.S for 2-years with wonderful feedback. Deans off to a Flyer in the Scottish Cup
The Senior boys basketball team, fresh from winning round one of the West Lothian Schools Competition last week, traveled to Broxburn for their first Scottish School's Cup game. A slow start meant that after the first period Deans were ahead 19-10 but the team were starting to hit their shots and play with more consistency to race into a big lead. Spaces Left for Dragon at The Citizens Theatre
The Drama department is offering students the opportunity to attend a production of “Dragon” at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow on Wednesday 7th October 2015 at 7pm.
There are some spaces left for this theatre visit. Students will meet at reception at 5.15pm and travel through to Glasgow by coach, returning to school between 9.00pm and 9.30pm. The cost is £14.

Students Attend Conference at Scottish Parliament
Last week Robert Corner, Mairi Edwards, Hayley Roberts and Kieran Wallace attended a conference for the new '1 plus 2' initiative for language teaching in primary schools at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. Under 5's Collecting for Local Food Bank
The Under 5's Centre are collecting items for the local Food Bank as they are celebrating and learning about World Food Day on the 16 October. There will be a collection point and box outside the Under 5’s centre or you can just hand it in to them. Well done to Kate Robertson 6H1, Holly Groves S4 and Laura McMahon (IST Dept) who attended their first ever National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain recently (as part of Whitburn Heartlands) and came away with 4th place out of 19. To ensure students don't miss out on any payments, the cutoff for EMA applications is September 30th 2015 - this applies to those who are 16 on or before that date.
Please ensure you return your application form to the Civic Centre to be received no later than 30th September or your money will NOT BE backdated.

Purves Puppets at Deans Theatre in December
Purves Puppets will be performing four shows, suitable for nursery and primary aged children, at Deans Community High School on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 December. The show is Pips and Panda at the North Pole – Starring Santa!
