New Parents Evening Booking System
After a successful pilot, we will be using a new, intuitive and easy to use online appointment booking system for our parents' evenings. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and receive an email confirming your appointments. You will also be able to add a short message for the teacher. The school's senior wind band competed in The Scottish Concert Band Festival and achieved a gold award for the second year in a row! Ryan Dudgeon was also awarded a special solo playing prize. Senior Handball Team Win West Lothian Finals
The Deans S5/6 handball team overcame some tough opposition to win the School Sports Partnership handball finals held at the school recently.
In their first match, the team were losing by two goals at half-time but managed to rally to a 12-10 win against Inveralmond CHS.
Deans then played Whitburn, who they had lost 11-8 to in the National qualifiers at Napier University recently. However, in the end ...Read More

Deans CHS Team Win WL Handball Trophy
Deans S1-2 team arrived at Armadale hoping to retain the West Lothian trophy which they won last year. The defending champions played exceptionally well from start to finish, scoring a total of 40 goals and conceding only 7.
Deans started their winning streak with an 8-1 win against home team Armadale, with Take Hirooka opening the scoring.

Ryan Dudgeon S6 and Holly Groves S3 were both performing with West lothian Schools Brass Band in the Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships in Perth. Handball Teams All Qualify for National Finals
All three Deans handball teams have qualified for the national finals to be held early next year at Ravenscraig Sports Centre. The S1/2 team and the S3/4 team went unbeaten in the qualifiers, while the S5/6 team only lost once (against Whitburn Academy!).

Team ROBUS have left the building... and are currently on a flight to Dubai due to arrive at 8.10am on Friday morning. After arriving they have to register and submit cars by 6pm on Friday.

Calum is the Scottish Youth Champion 2014
Calum Stephen won the Scottish National 2014 Fly Fishing Youth Championship last weekend, catching 15 fish on the day with 24 over the two days. There were over 25 boys fishing in the competition.

Students Take Part in New CBBC T.V. Drama
Over the summer holidays, nine S3 and S4 Drama students got the opportunity to take part as extras in the filming of a new CBBC T.V. Show "EVE". Craig Wins Double Gold in Record Times

WL Wind Band Ensemble Achieve Gold Plus Award
A number of our senior students performed in Perth with the West Lothian Schools Wind Ensemble (current featured band of the month on the Scottish Concert Band Festival website - www.scottishconcertbandfestival.com).

Wind Band Achieve Silver Plus Award
Our Wind Band achieved a Silver Plus Award at the Scottish Concert Band Festival at Perth Concert Hall. It was a fantastic achievement and we should all be very proud of our young musicians for their efforts. Team ROBUS are going to Abu Dhabi World Finals!
Team ROBUS emailed this report from Birmingham: After our regional success, we were invited to the National Finals at the Big Bang Fair in the Birmingham NEC. We were again judged on our car design, race, pit display, portfolio and a verbal presentation. Giant Heptathlon Team Win Regional Final
As our S1/S2 Giant Heptathlon won the West Lothian event, they qualified to represent West Lothian in the regional event, held at Meadowbank Arena, Edinburgh. They faced tough competition from schools such as Lasswade High School and Craigmount High School. 170 History students attend Conference!
This annual event hosted at DCHS provides West Lothian school students with valuable insights into the forthcoming higher exam, ideas for effective revision and techniques to improve their grades. Team ROBUS Win Through to National Final
The F1 in schools event was held at Fife College last week and the teams competing came from all over Scotland. Teams were judged on the engineering of their car, their pit display, a verbal presentation and their car's speed. We scored highly on engineering, portofolio and team identity and won the award for Best Sponsorship and Marketing. Craig is Recognised for Outstanding Achievement
In recognition of his achievements in swimming in 2013 Craig McLean was awarded the Dunfermline & West Fife Sports Council Junior Sports Personality "Asda, St Leonard's Trophy". This is awarded to a young person of 16 years of age and under who has shown qualities of endeavour in sport and whose standard of performance has improved that year.

S3/4 Handball Team came Third in National Finals
Our S3-S4 Handball team came 3rd in Scotland on Friday at the S3-S4 National Competition held at Ravenscraig Sports Centre. Handball Team Win National Title at Ravenscraig
After qualifying for the nationals at Napier University last year, our S1/2 handball team arrived at Ravenscraig Sports Centre on Friday confident that they could bring the national trophy back to Deans.
