Work Experience

Every Senior Phase pupil in Deans Community High School has the opportunity to complete a Work Experience Placement.  These placements can be completed throughout the year during the pupil's senior phase. 

All S4 pupils have one week each year that is dedicated solely to Work Experience, however we understand that this week is not always suitable for the employers.  This week will normally take place in the last week of October depending on when the October holiday lies.

Pupils are encouraged to find Work Experience in various ways, from asking family members and friends of the family, contacting local employers to using the WorkIt system to search the database of employers available. 

Every placement request must be done through the WorkIt system and a guide for this is below.  You will need your username and password for the system, which can be requested from Miss Lammie. 

There are a few things to note before requesting a placement:

·         You must avoid assessment weeks and assignment times in school

·         You must give at least 6 weeks' notice for a placement to be approved on the system

·         You must make sure you have read and researched the business you want to attend especially the location so that you are able to get to the workplace
