Skills Development Scotland - support offered in DCHS

Evelyn Rogers is the Skills Development Scotland Careers Adviser for DCHS.  Through a combination of group sessions, one-to-one interviews and drop-in in the school the students can access this support.  Evelyn has her own office in the school library where she meets with anyone keen to learn more about their interests and options through development of their Career Management Skills

  • S4/S5/S6 students - weekly "drop in" sessions Tuesdays Period 4 & Period 5
  • S1/S2/S3 students - "drop in" lunchtime on a Tuesday

Apprenticeships have changed, with more than 80 different types covering hundreds of jobs. Check this website to search and apply for these types of opportunities.

  • Foundation Apprenticeships which help you kick-start your career before you even leave school.
  • Modern Apprenticeships for those who are keen to work and get paid while getting qualified.
  • Graduate Apprenticeships offer the chance to get a university degree while working.  

 

School Parent Evenings - appointments can be booked to speak to the Careers Adviser in the same way as you do when booking to meet teaching staff.

Career Education: A World of Possibilities Leaflet

NPFS has developed a publication for parents which provides a helpful introduction to the new programme of career education.
